help with 6165 vol/pan pedal

Hi i just got myself a 6165 vol/pan pedal - the issue i have is that it is not full returning to the heel position. it's currently sitting about 1.5 inches above where it should (going from these photos - Buy Ernie Ball 500K Stereo/Pan Volume | Volume & Expression | Musician's Friend)

i've done some searching and haven't come up with any info on how to change the range of motion of the treadle itself.

Any ideas?

ok - i found that youtube clip on volume pedal repair - looks like i'm going to need to take it apart and redo it - think that string may be wrapped 4 times around that pot, weird it came from the factory like this...
