Hi,looking for some info on my Axis (G01001).Its got the switch in the EVH position, slab bodied with no ribcage contour and no trem backplate and no screwholes for this either.EBMM dated the guitar as April 98.Anyone know of any other Axis guitars like this?

Best guitar I have ever owned.just curious why I've never seen another like it on these pages:confused:

Might be an EX? I can't remember if the EX's noted that on the headstock or if it just says Axis...

just looked up the EX on google and did some back tracking on the forums.A few Japanese sites showed the EX and the AXIS legend was not on the headstock. The declaration "made in San Louis Obispo,California,USA" is on the back of the headstock on mine.
The serial number (G01001)ties in with a sunburst AXIS,which is the info I was given on these boards by customer services.Do the EX guitars use the same serial numbers as the regular USA Axis?
Had a look in the neckpocket in the last hour and I cant see a 2mm veneer top.Its definetely a 6mm cap. Also the neck and fingerboard are 100% from the same piece of wood.there's no sign of where the board has been reglued. These are contrary to the comments made by an EX owner on Harmony Central.
I'm confused.Could someone in the know post up the definitive features of the EX as I have read some conflicting statements(ie body, neck and all parts made in US,assembled in Japan as opposed to hardware only sourced from San Louis Obispo..)THis would help a lot I'm sure.
I guess at the end of the day I was in ignorant bliss before I noticed my Axis was different in some respects ( I got her in a swap deal with an Ovation Elite)so I should just be happy playing what is a killer guitar and mebe not think too hard on what it is or where it came from. But fickle me,If I ever moved her on in the future (for another EBMM of course)at least I'd be able to advertise it knowing exactly what it is I'm selling/trading.

Ovation Elite......You fleeced the guy...I cant figure this out as it was sold to strings and things in 98 and we would not have made a slab body etc....I think that someone made a body swap but it was made by us and is a great piece....Play the damn thing!
