Shamefully I havn't put down my SUB 5 since i got it back in january as i'd never had a 5 string before and been playin about in a Korn like band!

I have not played my Stingray 4 much since then until the other week when i delved back into the old funk......The problem i'm having is that the neck seems really sticky, and not smooth, was wondering if there was any safe oil i could use on the neck which would not damage it to get it to be more playable, faster, less sticky!!!

Thanks in advance.......

Superfine emery paper is great for removing gloss from finished necks. I need to do so with the mahogany necks on my Gibsons from time to time. This solution will work with any finished neck.

On the other hand, if it's an unfinished or satin finish neck, cleaning is likely what is needed, in which case a little pure natural lemon or orange oil will remove any grime or gunk.

Mark, this Superfine emery paper you speak of... Is it just for removing gloss from necks? Or could it work on the rest of the bass?

Unless you purposely want to rub down your gloss finish I wouldn't be going near the body with emery paper.
