I own a bongo with HS configuration and I know Single coil pickups are prone to some hum but i kind of like the tone I get from the neck pickup but not the hum so are there any effects (noise gate?) to get rid of this and if so: what brand/model (pedal form would be better).

Another question: when I go to uni I won't be bringing my bass amp so I was wondering, if i'm plugging straight into the mixing desk with my bass (do I need a DI box for this?) will I get good results without using an amp and just from the bass EQ alone?

thanks :)

1. Try a different mains supply (outlet).
2. Try a different amplifier.
3. Try a different instrument cable (lead).
4. Try changing batteries in the bass.

If all else fails, contact EBMM customer service. I realize you're in France; if they can't help, they'll have you contact a good dealer.

This is the proper way to troubleshoot, by eliminating the major parts.

To plug directly into a mixing desk, you should almost always use a DI. The DI matches signal level and converts to a balanced signal line. This allows longer cable runs without noise pickup.

Okay thanks for the help Rick :)

can you recommend any brands for DI and instrument cable.

If I need something done to the bass then theres a place in paris that can sort that out though I'm not sure what would need doing as I thought most single coil pickups create hum.

I only got the bass about two weeks ago! I don't think I need new batteries yet ^ ^ but it is true that they do make a big difference I know that from the Ibanez SG which now stays in the gigbag
