I picked up an olp petrucci really cheap and am currently doing it up, gotta say I do really like it, the body shape is amazing and after a setup it has a really comfortable neck, will definitely be picking up an EBMM in future but in UK they are prohibitively expensive and to much other stuff to pay for at present so this is gonna get upgraded to backup my prs in the meantime.
I want to rewire it essentially to the petrucci scheme so d-sonic/air norton wired with EP1111 to give the hunbucker/inside coils/humbucker selection. but I also want to have seperate tone controls so I can roll off fior a smooth lead and keep a tight edgy rythym without playing with tone control at pickup switches and also want wire a push/pull on the volume to give full humbuckers in centre position.
I've got the wiring diagram from the dimarzio site and looked around and figure if I follow the dimarzio wiring then take the tone control off the single cable on the switch for each humbucker to a concentric pot I should get seperate tones and if I take a cable off each of the pins on the switch with two humbuckers I should be able to wire the push/pull switch to also go into humbucking mode.
I've done a diagram of how I think this should be wired....
so the questions......
1. is my theory behind the wiring correct?
2. is the diagram correct?
3. if I am installing the d-sonic with the bar towards the neck is this make the pickup upside down, ie. regularly bar=south coil, poles=north coils?
3a. if the d-sonic is reversed would I need to install the air norton upside and reverse its wiring also to avoid phase cancellation?
4. does anyone have a diagram or eplanation of how the EP1111 works in selecting pickups, if I wire it as per the sites diagram at http://www.dimarzio.com//media/diagrams/D.pdf I assume it should work but would like to understand what each position is selecting and why it works.
