Hey guys! I need some help AGAIN with how to best use this forum's display and search. I had been using Hybrid thread viewing, but I've since switched to Linear with the newest post showing first. That way I don't have to always go to the last page first. Before with Hybrid, I would get an email saying a new post had shown up, but when I would go there, it wouldn't be on the last page. It would be embedded in the thread somewhere as a replay and it was hard to find. Some of these threads are super long and have been going on for years. So, I have select "last year" in my display pref's. Maybe that will work.
What methods do you guys use?
But for instance with Search, I just did a search for a serial # of a guitar I'm thinking about buying. I got a hit in the Serial # thread, and in the results, I chose "Show posts". So the post was shown in the search box, but it didn't say who posted it, or who it was in reply to, or any of that. It showed a link, so I clicked on it, and it took me to however my pref's were set up i.e. the newest post first. Not the post I wanted to go to! It also doesn't say what post number it was, nor have I figured out if you can even post by "post number" or not.
The bottom line is... am I doing something wrong or missing a feature? If I click on a search result link, why doesn't it take me directly to the post I'm wanting to view?
Please help me set up my pref's or whatever so that I can do this!
