.. I've posted this in the Music discussion thread as I cannot discuss any music issues !! Why?
because I've lost all my e mails.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my e mail client.
I still have all my contacts in the address book - but all folders and e mails have disappeared.

I have of course searched Mozilla forums - and the internet in general and have not found a fix.

Any computer technicians out there that can help me out here please?

You might try the RESTORE feature, say... you could restore up to a week or so ago, perhaps you might be able to recover the last saved condition before the c*&ck up happened.

in that case there is nought you can do about if cause what happened there, more likely is that you have inadvertedly deleted your inbox folder from mozilla and with that all the email contents, mozilla obeyed your request to delete them and now they are as good as gone, am afraid.

Next time you can set mozilla to keep a backup of all your email.

Sorry

When I view Windows explorer>Mozilla>thunderbird>profiles
I can see folders which are listed as Inbox sent etc etc including the personal folders that I created - they aren't empty it's just that thunderbird isn't displaying them??

have you tried the obvious? i.e. uninstal / re-instal mozilla? you never know it may be just the ticket. Good luck.

That would be my suggestion. Try uninstall, re-download, and re-install.

I've got 0 experience with Mozilla Thunderbird, though I'll probably switch to it just to avoid all the glitches and security issues with Outlook. I'm actually considering changing to alot of open-source software when I get my next computer.

Spud, you should have 2 or 3 files with an extension .dbx, mail them to me, I should be able to help.

Just a quick pre-req:
Use the "Browse" button for the local directory in Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings and Tools -> Account Settings -> Local Folders to specify the correct account and mail directories.

If you have a gmail account or zimbra based mail server a good extension for Thunderbird is called Zindus. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/6095

I use it right now with gmail. If you use Thunderbird on multiple computers Zindus will allow you to keep your contacts among your Thunderbirds in sync.

On a semi related topic I also use the Google Sync app on the Blackberry. My Thunderbird contacts are then kept in sync with my Blackberry contacts. I never have to worry about losing my contacts anymore and have redundancy.
