a little OT but I'm just gettin' my "chops" ready for the impending doom that is the Bongo 6!!!! :D

this was built by my good friend and College teacher Laurence Mollerup here in Vancouver:

well, if you're insinuating that it's a $300 'throw together' then no.
if you're talking a built by an amazing player and a bass that could take on any "boutique" bass then ya.

I think the control layout may have reminded Mark of a Wish bass enough that he couldn't resist razzin' you. If it's any consolation, I think it looks like cool bass -- if unplayable by me personally (the neck is too wide for me). Two question -- what ARE the controls? And what is the purpose of the carved out area on the upper horn?

I'm really curious about the Bongo sixer's neck width. I think it's a great idea for a major manufacturer to make a production six string. No one else is doing this, right? The Bongo's lightness and body style seem a perfect fit. I'm assuming it will be "standard" six string tuning from B - C. Another innovative product from Ernie Ball Music Man. Good that you're getting warmed up!

it's a volume knob.... (single Aero humbucker)

the body is about 3" thick and underneath the carved out part(purely aesthetic) is hollowed out as well as the bass side above the bridge(arm rest area)

as for the width, I've just got stubby perogy fingers and it's really a comfortable neck.

Yamaha as well as quite a few others do production 6's but not really any company like EBMM (I'll leave it at that so as not to offend other manufacturers)

but ya, it's bound to be the best "factory" built 6 around I figure.

...now if it has an oil/wax finished neck :D :p

I'm figuring to get a 6'er next. I've also been playing around with the Silo tuned in straight 4ths. It occurs to be that I can tune the Silo B-C as well and have it an octave up from a 6-string bass. Almost a piccolo at that point.

And none of that odd step business to offend my bass player sensibilities.

How many of you 4 stringers have had trouble adjusting to a 5? for some reason I can adjust to a 6 string bass using the high C and low B as centering reference strings. I am back on a 4 but considering a 6 at this point in time.
