If I want to string an AL (hard tail) with skinny top/heavy bottoms, am I going to need to make any modifications? Specifically, will the nut need to be filed for the larger gauge (I know about chekcing the change in intonation and adjusting the saddle heights as desired). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

AND if needed, can I have it grooved at the factory before shipping to me if I order a new guitar? (expecting a "No" here, , but my Grandma always told me: "If you don't ask, you don't get".)

Thanks

You may have to widen the nut slots a bit. And no, you can't have it done on a production guitar, but any good tech can open them up for you. It is a really easy thing to do.

Will it also be easy to do with the new compensated nuts they are coming with now?

Thanks for your time, Jon. Much appreciated.

Yeah...You would open them up just like you would on a non compensated nut.
