My wife and I are traveling to Toronto next weekend for her cousin's wedding and I was wondering if you could give me some advice.

1. What is the best/easiest/cheapest way to get from the airport to the 4 Seasons hotel?

2. How far is the NHL hall of fame from the hotel, and what is the best way to get there?

3. Should I exchange some US $ for Canadian before I leave for the trip? Can we use US $ in Canada? (I know - I am a traveling idiot! :D)

Anything else I should know about or go see while in Toronto? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I don't live in Toronto, but I've been there countless times.
Considering that it's a huge city, it's actually quite easy to navigate in my opinion.
Since the US > Canadian exchange is very close to the same it might not make a huge difference. Exchanging it at the bank will guarantee you're getting the most for you dollar though.

Which 4 Seasons hotel are you staying at?

The NHL Hall of fame is towards the waterfront. I believe that's about 30 minutes from the airport.

Norrin, you have to go to the NHL HOF, it's awesome especially if you are a hockey nut like me.

Hey Greg-

Great hotel. You're right in Yorkville where there's a lot of action. You've got tons of shops/restaurants nearby to walk to and you're totally central. You'll have to cab or limo it from the airport (I recommend the Limos). Should be $50ish.

Hockey Hall 'O Fame is at Yonge & Front and you can subway it from the Hotel easily (a few stops) or take a $7-$10 cab there. Everyone can direct you there so you'll have no problem.

In terms of cash, most places don't take US (some might at par) so I'd get some CanuckBucks for cab rides, etc. You should be able to withdraw from any ATM without a problem or use a credit card.

Lots of other stuff to see depending on your interests. CN tower is great (unless like me, you don't like heights), Toronto Islands are great (even better if you can get out on a sailboat), Casaloma is cool, the "distillery district" is cool to walk around. Walking down Yong street is cool for shopping (but along Bloor in your Hotel neighbourhood is nicer and pricier). The ROM (museum) is great, there's lots of theatre, yada yada yada.

A Google search will turn up a ton of info for ya (depending on what you like), but feel free to buzz me if you have any q's or need a hand.

Have a blast!

J.

This one:

21 Avenue Road
Toronto, Ontario

I have no idea where that might be.

Yorkville, the stars home away from home. Lots to see here as that area of Bloor Street has some of the best shops around and the most expensive.;)

Easiest is to take a limo from the airport.Only take one from the designated areas. It's a zone fare and will probably take you 45min to 1 hour depending on time of day you arrive.

Hockey Hall of fame is at Yonge and Front about a 15 min cab ride from the hotel. From there you can walk to the CN Tower and Rogers Stadium (home of the Blue Jays).
Toronto - The official City of Toronto Web site will get you maps and more places to visit.

Hope your stay is good, Toronto is a great city. Can't really think of any tips at the moment beej pretty much said what was on my mind. If you want to check out some music stores downtown I suggest Steves Music . Its in the fashion district (lots of shopping there) our subway is really basic you can get around easy. Heres a pic.

And if your stuck just grab a taxi. I always find that the easiest when in new citys.

Good luck and have fun!

That's one beauty of an Axis - if you need anyone to baby-sit yer gee-tar while you are at the wedding, let me know:D;)

and, if you get adventurous, there are some good places for espresso on College Street near Clinton; and some other interesting places on Queen Street west of Spadina.

cheers and hope you have a good trip - if you think you''l be in the west-end or out to the suburbs, let me know and I'll do my best to make sure you sample some good Canadian BEvERageS or a good double-double with a maple glaze:D
