Small world ain't it. Was just giving you some friendly rivalry ribbing. Sometimes I should watch it because I've dealt with guys who take it much more seriously and we get off on the wrong foot.

How much longer you got in your residency?

I still think the eyes were a brilliant stroke. Putting a toupet on a picture of the Sphinx is OK in my book. Now putting a toupet on the Sphinx itself, that's where I draw the line.

Maddog- what up?

Small world ain't it. Was just giving you some friendly rivalry ribbing. Sometimes I should watch it because I've dealt with guys who take it much more seriously and we get off on the wrong foot.

Maddog (as in 20-20?) you weren't any where near saying anything that I would find offensive.

It is almost impossible to offend me. In fact, the only thing that I am really offended by is people who are easily offended.

Where are you? Are you still in virginia?

I've got about 5 more years in my residency. I'm in my 5th year now. This is after medical school. 7 years of general surgery residency then 2 or 3 more to do a fellowship. I'll be in my late 30's by the time I'm done. Crazy huh?

Sorry it took so long to get back, as I am on Night Float, which means I work 6pm to 730am. I am fully vampirized, as I work at night and sleep all day. Its weird. You will notice my posts occur late at night!

Anyhow, if you want to rip on UVA and talk about how so many of the kids who go here are rich elitist snobs who drive SUV's and wear flip flops you will not offend me one bit. Tech keeps it real. I'm just sorry your mascot is a castrated bird ;) .

You got it

20-20 all the way baby!

I'm out in AZ now. Spent 6 years, 91-97. Got 2 math degrees out of it so I guess I did well. Some of the funnest years I had were at Tech. I was in the marching band and the UVa-Tech game was crazy at times. Especially when it was at Scott Stadium. It always seemed to me that they took the rivalry way more serious than us.

I had noticed that your posts were at odd hours so I was figuring you to be a grad student. Shoot, doing a residency, that's gotta be crazy. Don't know the medical school route but I put in ten years of schooling so I feel for you. Hell, I'm even looking to go back and finish up my Ph.D. which is looking like I'll be starting again when I'm 35. Depending on how kind my prof is I'll be finishing sometime around 40 as well. But when you love what your doing it really doesn't matter, right?

Funny you mention rich snobs drivin' SUV's and wearin' flip-flops. A couple friends of mine still hang out down in B'Burg and I've heard Tech is going the way of UVa. Still, being an Ag school keeps them farm boys comin' to town and straighten things out.

How's the music scene out there these days? I remember the days of Phish, Dave Mathews and P-Funk coming to town. I know your schedules gotta be crazy but you doin' much playin'?

2 math degrees huh? That's freaky. I always felt that there are math people and there are the rest of us. I am not a math person. In fact I am probably mentally challenged when it comes to math.

are you coming back to tech for your degree? You gotta come up to C'ville so you can jam in my band (as yet unnamed).

Thats awesome that you were in the band. Were you that guy with the crazy Dr. Seuss hat? Why does every band need a crazy Dr. Suess hat guy?

I play drums, and I always thought the best seat in the house at the UVA basketball games was the dude who gets to sit at an actual drumset to play with the "pep band". That would be so much fun. The drummer really sucks and it is frustrating for me to listen to him.

Anyhow the music scene ain't what it used to be, but we get pretty good acts coming through here. back in the day the place that DMB played, as you probably remember was "TRAX'. It is closed down now. The place that gets pretty good acts is Coran Capshaws beer/restaurant "Starr Hill".

I saw Yellowman there. Does anyone remember Yellowman? I was so excited to see him, and I did not know that he had clearly had neck cancer or something, becuase he came out and his head was all deformed from a radical neck dissection. He was really scary. But he tried pretty hard.

I saw John Mayer when he was just a guy with a guitar in this very small place (twice). That was a great show.
