I'm new to the Ernie Ball Forum as of today but I've been reading for about a week after being told about this thread from a VH site. Man I am so impressed with the guitars you guys have. I've always been a huge VH fan for years and played guitar a little but never even thought about getting a high end guitar due to the cost factor and my level of play.

Things change though and I bought a OLP guitar a while back and with practice my playing has gotten a lot better so I was thinking about steppin up to the plate and buying the real deal a Musicman Axis.

The journey started for my holy grail the Music Man Axis Electric Guitar Translucent Red with Maple Fretboard and Matching Head Stocklast week. I had no idea how difficult it would be to find this guitar because I've always seen them as out of reach and never did the research on them. It seems I'm years late. I also just assumed that any GREAT guitar like this one would always see a big demand so I thought no problem head into GC and head out with one sweet guitar that I'd probally treat better than my girldfriend. :p

No luck, I've struck out with GC, other Chicagoland music stores and all the internet stores I could find. I was on a VH thread site and saw a post to check out this forum.

I would really appreciate any advice or direction you guys could give me in order to buy one of these. Please feel free to pm me and thanks!

Welcome dude!

so you saw my new vid, eh? that striped EVH just kicks ass dude!!

EBMM EVHs are down on prices right now, maybe you can find a good deal on one!? There is nothing wrong with the axis, it is a great instrument, but being a hardcore EVH fan, the EBMM EVH is the preferred weapon for me!!!:D

good luck in your search!:)

Thanks for the welcome and help fellas. Yeah that was great playing on your new striped guitar. Man I hear about the EBMM EVH but if I had one of those I'd have to like not play it and display proudly like a great work of art. I think I'd be more comfortable playing everyday with an Axis ya know because it's a great guitar but without the worrying of nicking a EVH. I think once I get the Axis I'll want to try to find a EBMM EVH as the addiction and bank account grows! :p I mean I don't even have one yet and I'm feeling the addiction already just with the OLP. :D

Edit - I saw those on EBAY pretty sweet. I just have to be patient an keep looking.

This Axis is nice but I think I'm pretty well set on a red one.

i started with one and look what happened to me!!!

you will have more than 1!!!:D

I agree I'm sure I will. Man you have some sweet guitars there. It's weird when Eddie first started playing the EBMM I was like what the heck? cause I liked the old Krammer so much but now it's like I look and hear any other guitar and to me they just don't hold a candle to the look, feel and playability of the EBMM. I think I'm ready to have one of my own. ;)

Headin out for the evening. Thanks again for the help everybody. Have a good night.

I bet a red Axis with a Premium Quilt top would look just killer!!

And welcome.

Thanks for the info everyone. I sent Pete a pm. I didn't know you can get a Quilt top. To me those always look way better. Trans red is more of a tiger lines look than the quilt? Still great but I would much rather go with the quilt if I had the choice but I didn't see quilt as an option for red in the Axis?

I saw the nice red Axis SS but for some reason I like the traditional look with the one control knob that the Axis has.

I told my girlfriend and she said, " This will be it then right? no more guitars?" and I just smiled.

she doesn't understand the addiction. :p

when you upgrade to a premium top you get the choice of either quilt or flame. i think.

Good choice fella!

Here's a bad pic of me squeezing out what was clearly a very difficult note on my trans red quilt Axis here in the UK!:D
