Just thought I'd say hi to you all! I finally got it together and bought my SR4 last January- yes it's taken a while to sign up here, but you guys were a big help when the maple started to dirty up!

I will NEVER get tired of opening up the case to find that Pacific Blueburst looking at me, and the killer sound continues to blow me away- no other bass I've ever owned has said "play me now" quite like this one :D However, I think the Stingray bug has got me, because my wallet has started twitching whenever I see a Honeyburst SR4 anywhere on line (I understand this is quite normal...)

Anyway, I'll try and post some pics when I work out how to do it (any advice welcome because I'm techno-useless  )

Cheers for now!

Many welcomes!

Rest assured that these guys won't be happy until you have a whole room full of MM basses... and you'll be brainwashed into wanting to buy a Bongo by the resident Bongoloids here.. :D

You have been warned! Prepare to become very very poor...

I was thinking you might be from Newfoundland.

I thought he was from Fraggle Rock

I thought he was from a movie released in 1996 starring Sean Connery, Nicholas Cage and Ed Harris.

Mount Olympus? Where the god of bass lives?

Nah, not really. I thought Alcatraz too. Just visited there last week. That place is pretty cool, I got some exercise in the exercise yard climbing those freakishly steep steps. Nice fake heads on display too. Highly recommended little visit :)

You grew up here eh? I've been here for about 8 years altogether... not by choice though!

Where do you stand, so you like it, or hate it? :D

I've never been to Guernsey... we almost went there for my honeymoon, but we plumped for Jersey instead because it had the zoo... made the whole trip worthwhile! :)

Do you reckon I could buy a bass without paying the VAT if I got it in Guernsey?
(Plan forming in my mind...)

In a van, down by the river...
Okay, so are you anywhere near Asbury Park?

Welcome to the board!

Oh, by the way "Resistance is futile" as they say... ;)

You would think that would be easy, but there's a few snags! First thing is, you are not going to rock up in Guernsey and find a nice selection of EBMMs hanging on the walls in the two or three music stores here (Maybe a Mexican F****r J if you're really lucky...)

If the high-end gear we want isn't available over here (and trust me, it ain't), we will get it shipped over from the UK. (A drummer buddy of mine is making plans to have a Tama Starclassic sent over- I'd love to see the shipping bill for that  )Sometimes a cool retailer will knock the VAT off at the time of ordering, otherwise its a case of filling in forms to claim it back.*

If there did happen to be a Stingray/Bongo up for sale on the island (and me and the other MM nut over here hadn't clubbed eachother to intensive care over who was going to buy it), it would be way over the duty free limit, so you'd probably get stuffed for import tax when you brought it back into the UK.

The lack of VAT in the CI is great, but does get offset by finding gear online, the worry of buying instruments unseen (so far so good), and finally the shipping costs.

I was back in Peterborough last month...now seems big and scary, but it's home!

*I will be auctioning the movie rights to this post later :)

Damn... that's one plan down the drain... now to think of another :)

Be glad you're not here at the mo - it's really really cold! No snow yet but I'm sure it'll get here!
