Hey all.

I just got my first EBMM product, a SUB bass. I am still waiting for it to be delivered, but I'm anxious for it's arrival.

With my first post I was going to ask if a Stingray pickguard would fit, BUT I used the search function like a good boy and found out it will. So I will ask if you have online suggestions of where to pick up said pickguard. And what you have seen that looks good with dark red.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, and congratulations on your new bass, you own one of the best quality instruments of today. I think I'll let the more experienced forum members answer your questions about P/G's.

Hi and welcome to the forum! You can get a SR pickguard direct from EBMM or you can go to third parties like WDMusic.com or Mr. Bryan Boots, who sells his stuff on eBay (user ID: dazbootman). I have two suggestions for a pickguard:
1. None. :p
2. Tort.! :D

Well, I got my SUB 4 bass today and I really like it. I have to say it sounds way better than my Fender Precision or Jazz bass ever did. I'm not really a bass player, but I compose music and record in several studios. This is definately more of what I have been wanting to hear from a bass.

I have played with a couple great bass players who played Sterlings and Sting Rays, and I always loved the sound they got. I have to say that the SUB has that sound I've always really dug out of those guys. I'm very glad I got it.

BTW- I pulled off the pickguard real quick and it would really look good without one, if it weren't for all those screw holes that stand out like a sore thumb!

White perloid would look good on the red SUB IMHO.
Welcome to the forum. EB basses do rock for sure.

Tort would look yummy. Did you get an active model or the passive one? I played a friend of mine's passive Sub and am thinking of adding one as a passive bass to my arsenal.

BTW welcome - you'll love it around here! ;)

Also BTW - you're a much better boy than I am - I hardly ever use the search function!

It's the active version, and man does it growl! I love it. I have been doing some scratch recordings this afternoon and it sounds awesome recorded. At home I record on a PC Laptop and run bass->Art TubePac->MOTU 828mk2->Sonar3Producer. It sounds really great recorded. I will probably go back and retrack some of my bass tracks that I had done on my Jazz bass and replace them with this one. A keeper for sure, and for $450 impossible to beat.

BTW- I take that little Art TubePAC with me wherever I record for bass. I have found it's my favorite bass interface, even more than expensive pres and compresors I use on other stuff like vocals. Just a little suggestion for people to try.

I think the pickguard is part of the look of a SR or SUB... I wouldn't want a guardless Ray/SUB.

I went with white pearloid. I was afraid the reds in the tort would clash with the dark red body.

And yes, I hang out with way too many chicks! :)

Well I ordered that p/g from the "dazbootman" guy on ebay 10 days ago and never heard a word from him. I'm wondering if I'll ever see it or what the deal is. Just kinda bummed cause I got rid of the metal one thinking a new one would be on the way, but I guess I was wrong.

Thumbs down for that dude.

Mr Boots can be rather bad about communication, but we've had lots of experience with him and I imagine your pickguard is on its way. He's really quite good about making and sending things....just not always on top of his email, I guess.

And by the way - welcome to the treehouse. Glad to hear the SUB has hit the spot.

And you used the search function? Really? You did? We're already on our way to a warm relationship!

Again - welcome!
