I have a sitar like sound on my high E string. It is not the frets, because it does it on the 22nd fret as well. Anybody have any clues? I suspect it is the saddle. It is a Steve Morse model.

.....happens to most of them. i will try to get a diagrahm drawn upon and posted..... to indicate how i recut the slot in the saddle to fix it.
the problem is....that when they (gotoh)..... cut the slot for the string in the saddle...they make the slot flat...leaving too little pressure on the saddle from the string.....and allowing the string to actually rattle in the slot. you have to recut the slot so that the string is only contacting the front top part of the saddle. after that......you will have to take a piece of 600 grit black sandpaper.....about 3'' x 3''.......fold it in half...and use the edge to round off the edges of the slot....or you will start cutting the string at the saddle as you are playing.
i may have found some replacement saddles made of titanium that will fit a gotah bridge. (the morse comes w/ a gotoh bridge).
once this little problem is solved....you will rarely break a string on it.

more soon.....got a gig to make......

Tommy is da man

Tommy is totaly right. He talked me thought this too. I have a New Morse model about 3 weeks old. I had a a high-rattle/sitar thing on the b and g string. I took the paper..made a sharp 'V' and lightly recut the groove sloping down the back with a little rounded edge as not to have too sharp of a lip. It does not take much pressure just a few strokes cleaned mine up. Then I had a slight readjustment on the bridge...as the string was down a bit lower [fractionally] than before. This guitar is unreal. It sings, it soars..the sustain and the resonace is remarkable. Toomy is ths man!!! Hey, Tommy...I'll buy a set of those titanium saddles from you when you acquire them. You ARE the East Coast Morse guru! Thanks again for your discussion that Friday and the help!
