HI, is there someone here, maybe someone from EBMM who can answer me this.
There's a discussion on another forum concerning what years when light string gauges were available.
I know I used 008's on my Tele that I bought in 1969. They were most likely Ernie Ball. I also had a teacher around that time that used 007's on his Gretsch. I believe these were made by Dan Armstong. I know I used 007's a while also because my teacher pointed them out to me and recomended them.
The younger guys on the forum think it was the stoneage back then and everyone was playing on flatwound 14's or something! <lol>. However, even an older guy claims that the only thing available were 10's. I'm positive this is hogwash. Does anyone know when the lighter gauges were introduced into the market?
Much Thanks
Jon :)

1962 my father offered the first 008 and 0098 he also introduced the now standard gauges of 8-38,-9-42,10-46. He never offered 007's because they were not stable.

Thanks Big Poppa.
I guess the next question, if you don't mind, would be when they became nationally or regionally (I lived in NYC) distributed. I suppose by '67 or '68 at the latest.
Thanks again!

You've been a great help, Big Poppa.
I'm not much of a regular here, so I really don't know who's who. Reading around a bit I see that your father passed away last year. I'd like to express my condolences.
May you also have a great new year and keep providing us guitar players with your very fine instruments.

All the Best
Jon :)

Well, you figured out one of the more important contributors!

Stick around, post a bit and have some fun.

It is, if I do say so myself, one of the better hangs on the 'net.
