Is this real or a fake? I emailed the guy for a serial number. I don't remember any sports in this natural color. Could be wrong though.

there have been a few on eBay that were stripped down to the wood by their owners. This could be one of them.
I would get the serial # just to confirm though. It could be a modded OLP!?

I bought this Axis Sport off eBay. When I posted it here for its DOB, it was originally listed as red, which means it had been professionally refinished after it left EBMM.

I don't know if it affords you any extra opportunity to check the credentials of the guitar but It is listed for sale over on the 'Guitar Emporium' thread of TGP.
Nice looking piece if it does turn out to be on the level though..

It looks like it's from mid '98 onwards (no pickguard and non-zebra humbuckers)

Check out this e-bay link for a model on sale in the UK in the same colour (must have been right on the time of transition, unless the pickguard has been added later.

Looks like a pretty good guitar to me, don't think it's an OLP re-build. It's towards the top end for what sport's tend to go for, but it's definitely worth a shot.

I think it's legit. He emailed me pretty quick with the SN.

After examining the pictures more, I'll pass. It looks like it is lacquered (right word?). I was hoping it would be bare wood.
