I'm trying to put together an entry level recording setup. I've got a decent digital multitracker/sequencer and a drum/rhythm machine. I am attempting to use my Toshiba Satellite Laptop for laying down background MIDI tracks. My problem is that when I play back through the laptop audio out, the audio quality is very poor and completely unacceptable. Is this asking too much of a laptop or is there and easier way to do this?

Thanks:confused:

How fast is the processor in your laptop.
How much ram etc.
What kind of soundcard are you using. Laptops generally don't have a good audio output so you need to incorporate a usb device. Something like what tascam makes or M Audio would be good. There are a number of good entry level usb devices available.
