Sorry if this specific question has been asked before...I did do a search and couldn't get close enough to any advice that was helpful enough...

I've got a 1991 Honey Burst SR5 with a rosewood neck, plain white pickguard, white pickup, and chrome knobs. I've always thought the white pickguard looked a little plain and I'm finally considering pumping it up a notch. However, I'm not entirely sure which way to go. I'm a big fan of tort guards, but my concern is that this might end up looking silly with the white pickup - all the pics I've been able to find of tort on honey burst have had black pickups. I've seen some white pearls that look nice and even black pearl. Anyway, my question is does anyone have any experience - or even better, photos - of different pickguards on honey burst/rosewood neck/white pickup SR5s that I could peek at before I splurge for one?

Also, if anyone has any good suggestions for a supplier to get the pickguard from, that would be much appreciated too.

I appreciate any help the forum can offer. Thanks in advance!

Tort it. I think it will look cool with the white pickup cover. You could go with Vintage White Pearl, but that's not a whole lot different than what you already have.

Thanks for your input. I too think it will end up looking fine, although I just wish that I could see a picture of one like that before I go ahead with the purchase. I agree, vintage white/cream pearl would also look cool, but its not quite the upgrade that I'm looking for.

I'm still open to any other suggestions, or ideas for a place to make the purchase from!

I think you should leave it white or change to white/cream pearloid - perfect match for honeyburst IMO, as it brings out the body colour well. I've seen them with black pickguards also and these look good - but as you have a white pick up cover which is glued on the SR5, and thus non-changeable, that may look unco-ordinated.

I have a 93 SR4 in this colour and that has a matt white pg also - standard for the era I guess.

Only two responses, but this is pretty much how the discussion is going inside my head. Tort would look fine and I love tort guards, but I wish I could see a picture first...Pearl will definitely look excellent and has its positives, and there are lots of pictures to see, but is it really enough of an upgrade...*sigh*

Yeah, I've also seen black pearl look nice too. Red pearl could be interesting! I wish I was better with photoshop so I could mock all these combos up.

Thanks for the advice!

Sometimes a subtle difference (such as white pearl as opposed to white) can make a huge impact.
