So Gang,

Does anyone use Aguilar gear? I'm intrigued by their stuff for some reason. My classmate has an Aguilar GS 412 (4X12) that sounds terrific, but he doesn't use an Aguilar head with it.

I'm wondering if their heads are worth considering. I know that they're costly, but that's about it. I can't remember if I've ever heard one.

I love my stuff, drop me a message if you want more info.

I've gigged through a DB750 and GS410 and it sounded great... but I do swear by the OBP-1 and/or the DB924 (outboard version of the OBP-1) absolutely one of the best preamps on the market!!!!

I played through an AG500 at GC, at least I think thats the model number, and hated it. Just didnt work for me, and the Mesa Boogie Big Block next to it, ate its lunch IMO.

However, just like anything else, its a personal thing. I love gear that some hate, and I hate gear that some love.

The AG500 is pretty cool for what it does, but comparing it to a Big Block 750 isn't really equal. Comparing the Big Block 750 to the DB750 now thats in the same league.

I bought a Mesa Big Block 750 and I love it, but I've always wanted a DB750 just for that huge phat smooth tone.

ask Dargin

I think Dargin has some Aguilar gear.

I'm sure he's tried quite a lot of amps, too, so hopefully he'll jump into this thread.

Like any other bass equiptment it is all in the eye of the beholder. Personally I liked their cabs. I ran the GS112 and then the GS 410. It was with a mesa head, walkabout I do believe. Nice, deep, and well characteristicly dark. But as far as cabs are concerned, I wouldnt buy one unless I got a really good price.

edit: they lack mids. And punch.

I use two GS112 cabs with my SWR 350 head. The best thing about the cabs are the weight and size. They are about 40 pounds each and they easily fit in the trunk of a car. They also sound really good too. I use to gig with a trace elliot 410, but moving it around became a burden. The GS112's are a great alternative to a 410 or a 15.
