The Sub 1, right?
I know we all love it as players, but if you try to mention it to EBMM or Music Man, they both respond like the kid isn't theirs. Like it was the result of a shotgun marriage that didn't make it past the honeymoon stage and both sides are just trying to forget it happened. Why?
Ok, I've read the Sterling "losing money with every one made" quote. So what? You aren't losing money anymore, and, by now, many of those players whose first music man experience was with the Sub 1 likely loved it so much that they went on to own other more expensive EBMM models or other Music Man models similar in value. So every single Sub 1 that has passed through the hands of multiple players by now has surely made up for whatever loss initially experienced.
I think it's time for EBMM & Music Man to celebrate their joined effort in creating/crafting the beauty and historical beast of an axe, The San Luis, Obispo California USA made Sub 1 by Music Man (A Division of Ernie Ball). Post something about its history on your official websites. An Ode to the Sub 1, your greatest failure.
Now if you could please please please send a replacement neck for mine? Pretty please?
