How are limited-run guitars allocated to dealers?

Hi everyone
I purchased a JP 10th-anniversary Majesty from Musicians Friend about 25 minutes after the E-mail came out. They were already sold out here on the MM website. Does anyone know how limited runs work? Does each dealer get a specific allocation? Do the dealers "purchase them" beforehand? Do the dealers just keep taking orders and submit them to MM afterward?
I REALLY want this guitar. The day after, I called Musicians Friend, and they said they had over 10 orders, but I was the first to "reserve" it through them. How do I know 50 weren't sold through the Music Man website?

EBMM had a small quantity of these available through the Vault, the rest were allocated to dealers. Most (perhaps all) dealers were allocated One. I don't know if SW, GC, and MF were allocated more than one, but if MF said you were the first then I would fully expect you to receive one from them.
