Help! How do I remove the input jack on a Silhouette Special?

Hi all, I’m working on a Silhouette Special and need to remove the input jack. I’ve never done this on one of these before, so I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

What’s the proper way to access and remove the jack on a Silhouette Special? I removed the jack plate first and used a 13mm socket to unscrew the ring but I am having trouble trying to push the jack out from the inside.

You're on the right track. Unscrew the plate from the body, but pull the plate and the jack out together. Then, unscrew the jack from the plate.

If the jack is sticking in the cavity, it's either just tight on the sides, or the wires aren't long enough to let it pull out, in which case you might have to take off the pickguard to have a look. But I'm guessing it's just getting stuck.

When I rewired mine, the jack was pretty tight. I ended up just "coaxing" it out with needle-nosed pliers.

Both of these are great suggestion, just go easy, but definitely remove the pickguard. And when using the pliers, be gentle. The plug has a square housing and is usually tight in the hole.

Thanks guys. I managed to get the jack out with the square housing and am trying to replace the jack with a switchcraft one. Is this even possible? It seems to be soldered to the housing? or do I have to purchase a spare square housing?

My wiring kit I bought for mine had a Switchcraft jack, and it worked fine.

You should be able to use the purchased one without the housing.
