I don't play 5 strings really, but I LOVE the SR5 anyway. One of my all-time favorite basses. Today I finally got to check out an HH, but like the SR4 HH I played before I'm not real into the neck humbucker (though I did like position 2 a lot).

What's the consensus on the HS? Obviously there's not an outside coil setting, but are the other settings similiar? I played an HS Sterling briefly, but the pickup was actually falling out so I couldn't exactly get a good impression. Even so the single coil seemed more to my liking.

I should mention that the HH SR5 I played was amazingly constructed and felt so right. I usually like broken-in basses, but the new EBMM's I've been playing are just the tops.

Well I have played both but chosen the HS set up. Its a little more like a scalpel to the HH's buzzsaw......(no offence to HH lovers, its just what I prefer..):)

I have an SR5HS as well. I like the configuration and there is a little more room for popping. I tend to play it more often with just the humbucker on (both coils).

You are right - the SR5 feels tremendous - the best feeling 5er I have owned.
