How does he get this sound? Is the piezo involved, or is it just neck pickup plus effects?

I know lot of you have raved about this video, personally I don't think its that great at all.
Thought the guitar sound was horrible and overall not as melodic as it could have been.

Isn't this just his take on the Steve Lukather version of the Christmas Song from Santamental? Yeah, I'm thinking lots of Reverb and some Chorus.

Definitely his take on Lukathers.

Compressor and a Chorus pedal on regular pickups will get that tone without question.

...and some talent :)

I'd love tab of this arrangement, it'd take me a lifetime to figure it out on my own :(

It was the neck pickup, non standard pickups I should add...a bit of chorus..(not that much acctually!!) ..some delay..using Line 6 echo and mod Pro's...I used a Blackstar HT5 head, a baby 5 watt vavle head..and a tiny bit of pedal compression..It sounds more compressed due to data compression when it was squashed for Youtube...and yes..it was inspired by Luke!!...i got asked to do a little Xmas jingle for Lick Library...It was 3-4 takes for different camera angels, and was learnt the night before i filmed it...It took about 10-15 mins to film..anyway..it is what it is..thanks for the comments both positive and negative...haha..cheers Jamie

ah, utube's infamous underwater squash... hey jamie, don't be a stranger!

by the way, i loved your video of metallica stuff, imho it was better than what lick library recently came up with (you know, the one with the same songs as one u've already done). really dig you're attention to detail in vibs n stuff.

Yeah, that's some DEEEEEEEP chorus. Definitely some compression in there. ANd finger picking like Lionel said.

The thing I dig is the smooth and seamless complex chord transitions. Those aren't your .02cent baby chords.

I love the tone of those old Line 6 rack units for delay and chorus...I have 6 of them!!...Have been using a baby rack with a Blackstar Series One 45 watt combo...sounds killer with my Black Slilhouette Special...I shall do my best to take pic's of my collection of Balls...and a fine collection it is too...that is if someone can tell me how to post them...Guitar..no problem...computers..HHHHEEEELLLPPP!!!...J
