well here are my latest thoughts, I might sell my axis sport, I like it but I dont know if it has enough diff. sounds in there for me.... The HB super sport would probably be a better choice for me....anyhow, I'm thinkign that I could sell that and my strat and either get a brand new silo or AL.... my strat has a blue lace in the bridge position but it never seems to be hot enough and I dont love the neck, I'm not sure the AL bridge position will be hot enough either.....sooo...maybe a new silo is the way to go... whatyathink?

Actually, the AL bridge pickup can belt out the solos.

But I did have to raise it from factory settings. It's now much higher than the other 2 pickups which I keep rather low (especially on the treble string side to even out the overall volume and tone of all 6 strings).

It's a fantastic guitar that covers a lot of bases. A finger pickers dream. And really lightweight.

I have a '76 strat with emg's in it (which I'm pretty sure DUDLEY GIMPLE routed and installed a trem back in the day at Valley Arts), and I can hardly play it.

The AL sounds just as good, but feels so much more comfortable.

Currently debating on getting an AL with piezo, or another Luke with Piezo.

Might have to downsize by selling my supersports with piezos. Or maybe my Morse...but then I might have to get the new Morse.

It's a pickle to be in I tell you.

neastguy,

I'm not sure if they still have them or not but it's worth a shot. A while back I went down to Youngstown to go to a music store that is going out of business with the current owner and (I belive) being picked up by a couple of the employees. It's called New York Music. While they didn't have what I was looking for (a boogie to replace my fried MK IV), what they did have was a copuple of really good buys on Pets. That might be exactly what you are looking for. I played both of them for a bit and they were great. If they still have them, it will be worth the hour drive down there. :D

Either they weren't making enough profit, or the owner just got tired of what he was doing I think. When I went down there they had some really nice stuff in the showroom. I went down to get a Boogie Lone Star Special they had, but it was sold by the time I got there. I started to get one of the Stilleto heads and a cab, but thought better about having to transport anything that big to gigs.

bought th' t-shirt.....

i has been where you at, ma fran. i had a axis ss piezo. it was # 267 of 268 guitars i have owned. i thought it was the best i ever played, and vowed never to sell.......until some fella read a review i wrote, on it, and made me an offer i couldn't refuse..............i sho' missed it when it was gone.

anyway...happy ending.........4-5 months later, he decided to sell it, and i was there when he placed the ad......i got it about $150 cheaper than i sold it for, but the extra dings and finish cracks he left on it, more than made up for his losses.

i reckon that's my punishment. i accepted it as is, w/out complaint, and it is once again "THE AXE for me". i got some work to do re: the bridge, but i just had it on a gig and WOWF!.......my blue axis ss piezo is definitely , "th' SH*T".

good luck w/ your delemma, and , like i always say....
