Quick question: If I were to order a Reflex with Game Changer, how long would it be until I actually got it? Does it depend on the store? I'm thinking of getting one and want to time it out. Thanks!

It depends on the factory's production schedule. Ballpark for my orders were 4 to 5 months.

The times quoted are about right in my experience. Doesn't depend on the store... depends on when the order gets placed. It's a good idea to go to a known knowledgeable and reputable dealer, like DuBaldo, Perfect Bass or Bass Central. From time to time you hear of orders getting screwed up by dealers who aren't focused on MusicMan and intimately familiar with the line. Not a happy thing when you've waited five months.

People intimately familiar with the line can, and have, also made mistakes.

Hi B...Beaver at BC said more like the end of May.
BTW: There are 2 on order over there and nobody has spoken for them yet.

When I contacted him one of the two were pre-sold to someone, and now the other one has been too; to me :D

I don't suppose there is a web-app or something like that which would generate a correct model number based on the model options selected.

I have been thinking about getting a Stingray 5 Classic with the cool neck, but I would be horrified if I described that to the flunkie at the music store and 6 months later find I got something else when it finally arrived. I would much rather have the correct model number to quote to him so he can't screw it up.

Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it, and simply order the bass. The person you talk to who will be calling will be speaking to someone at EBMM. The chances ofte order being wrong is slim. In fact, adouglas is making it seem much worse than it actually is--I'm not even sure where he is getting his numbers on screwed up orders.

If you are really concerned, get th product order numbers after the order is placed, and get it verified here after the fact. I know I'd be insulted if someone came to my job and acted like they expected me to screw up. This isn't rocket science. It's placing an order over the phone.

Numbers? What numbers? Did I post a number someplace? Dang this senility stuff…..

I never said mistakes were commonplace. They do happen. Occasionally, as in rarely, you do read a post on this forum about an order going wrong. Like this one, for example:

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-basses/45450-houston-we-have-problem.html#post748875

Most often things like this are due to a simple error on the part of the salesperson, not incompetence. Invariably things are made right. Customer service is a big plus with MM and MM dealers.

People are not perfekt.

Also, again occasionally, you get salespeople who state things about MM that are patently untrue. I have experienced this first-hand. Incompetence? No. Lack of familiarity with the line? Probably.

As you said, it's not rocket science. Be informed and know your stuff… simple common sense.
