I have recently bought a JP6 and I want to change the string gauge to 09's.

Who plays 09's on the JP and how many springs allow for the best balance of the bridge?

Can the spring claws be screwed out enough with 3 springs for a parallel bridge and if so how is the response?

Or are two springs enough without screwing the claws really close to the body?

thanks for your help

Went for 2 springs

Well I took a chance and went for 2 springs.

Tightened the screws on the claw side and I have got a parallel bridge unit.

The trem feels light and responsive and can also get all the weird floyd style burbles if I flick the trem arm.

Not sure how the trem stability will be affected as my new strings need to settle in.

Tuning stability is key and I will go back to 3 for a stronger return if required.

p.s. the action is amazing. This the first guitar to rival my silo and is a perfect foil to the sounds from my silo. My silo with stock pickups remains on the twangy side of humbucker which is perfect for me and I will never change them. I bought the JP to give the power and chunk for when I feel like playing real heavy stuff. I only need to get a 3 single coil silo special and my personal sonic needs are covered.

My amp situation also recently got improved as I got an Egnater Rebel 20. This thing is great for home and practice with mates. But the best, best thing about it after the sound is that it has a switch to accept US or European electrical current which means I do not have to sell the thing or ruin it with a transformer when I get relocated.
