KBaim joked on another thread about how a 'Luke' by OLP gets 'approved' by the artist himself and that the process involves 5 zeros etc etc... :D

So how much does an artist get to have his name on a guitar in the first place and how much per guitar? Curious as to how much Petrucci, Lukather, Morse and the rest are pullin' in...... ;)
anybody have a ballpark figure? (just so I can know how much to ask for... :p )

No one knows - I would hazard that it depends on the artist; some probably get free guitars, sig. model artists most likely get a piece of the action in all cases, but you can bet EVH and Steve Vai command a higher per-guitar slice than Eric Johnson or Johnny A... Anyway, it's private business between the Artist and the company endorsing them, and I don't think you'll see anyone throwing any dollar figures your way here...

Who wants the money? I'd be perfectly happy with free guitars, especially ones that were made to my liking!

I'll throw a figure at ya. I think it's around a billion trillion, or something in that ball park. Then again, I could be off by a few dollars. I'm gonna start calling up all the EBMM artists to find out for sure. I'll betcha I'm close, though.

Does that mean you have to pay EBMM then?

but you can bet EVH and Steve Vai command a higher per-guitar slice than Eric Johnson or Johnny A...

It would certainly explain why the Jem and Universe cost twice as much as they feel...

Well if you're really special, you get no money but your guitars are fabricated from unobtanium.

That stuff is hard to get! :D ;)

So then, if you have a guitar made from unobtainium, which Jon mentions is hard to get, would you, upon playing said guitar, be 'playing hard to get'?
