Hello everybody. Right now, I'm on my first bass, but I would like to upgrade sometime in the summer maybe. Now, heres my question: The SUB looks like a good bass, for a good price, but all the online music stores seem to be saying "Limited Quantities" or "Being Discontinued". So, if indeed the SUB is being discontinued, how much longer will it last? I just don't want it to go away before I can get one!

Thanks for any help.

The last time I was at The Perfect Bass in Baton Rouge, they had a pile of them. In fact, they had more EBMM basses than I think I've seen in one place. Well, other than Jack's house.

All were setup well and the people couldn't be nicer.

There are tons of threads about this. The SUB WAS discontinued. It will last until the current stock is gone.

In the Toronto area there are still a few kicking around but all I have seen left are the teal and burgundy colour (my least favorites for a SUB).

There will always be used ones if you can't get one new. The prices are starting to climb as trhey are starting to be a collectable due to the short production run and the fact that there aren't millions of these things around.

Great bass IMO and worth the $$$ IF the ceiling stucco finish doesn't bug you..

Yeah... I mean I'd get one now if I could - but my funds are a bit short. It'd probably take me a couple months (right now, I have maybe around $150. hey, I'm just a kid in high school, you know the minimum wage...) to get enough money.

All the online music stores do appear to have them. I just don't want to be stuck with teal or something by the time I have the money.

There is always used - but I bet when these things find their way out of all the stores, they'll climb up in price, ABOVE the MSRP. The bass really does seem worth more than $600...

i dont think that they will go up too much more and in fact I think the appreciation right now is artificial. If they go up too much you might as well buy a used regular one

Does that mean my SUB 4 is irregular??? :D

I agree though. I love my SUB but if they ever approach the same resale value as a Stingray, I will eBay mine and get a SR in a flash.

I will note that a new sub is going for more than the last 'ray I bought used. Nice instruments, but the price can't continue to climb as BP points out.

I saw SUB prices on eBay go up a bit sometime after it was announced the models would be discontinued, but now they seem to have settled back down to their pre-discontinued price range, ie. 300-400ish.

I know the reply is kinda late but... how much did you get your Stringray for then? How much are they normally used?

And thanks for all the answers :D

I recently saw a new 4-string sub in a store for $850. Don't know how much they were planning on coming down on it because I didn't ask. Paid $800 for the last Stingray I bought.
