How much you guys think a decent acoustic Bass should be ? I just want a Acoustic bass for some you know jam around a fire with friends who all play acoustic guitars ..and since I'm not a guitar player I get mad after 2 minutes.

I'm not gonna slap/pop or what ever hard with it , just gonna do some finger playing for fun.

50 bucks.

Aside from that big monster Earthwood that EB built in the distant past, I've never found an ABG worth a damn. They all suck to some degree. No volume, no oomph, no projection, even the expensive ones.

Buy a Rogue or something and put stickers all over it. Fifty bucks would be my limit, really.

They all suck. Trust me.

I've solved the ABG physics problems by adding this little guy:

PJB_ABG.jpg

With the mic/transducer setup, I get a true sound, and with the battery powered Phil Jones Briefcase, I can play anywhere with anyone and still be heard.

But, yeah, most of them suck, and none of them can really be used too well acoustically. But, there are ways to do it right if you want to do it.

in my opinion, the cheap version of the tacoma bass (the Olympia), is probably the best cheap acoustic bass, biggest body out of all of em (the main ones anyway), so the biggest sound, i find it's punchy and has at least 1 cajone.

give it a try

Call me jaded, but down to the deepest core of my soul I HATE ACOUSTIC BASSES. If played so many and they all sucked, even the expensive Taylor AB series.

i would not pay over $500 for an acoustic bass. im trying to find one myself. so far, all i have played is an ibanez and to be totally honest, its sounds pretty damn good, and only $300.

That is an Athlete AX-6 six string ABG from the early 90s. No longer made.

The strings are La Bella Black Tapewounds, which I just put on my fretted 5 string Bongo, too:

I tried those strings...they're very nice...I'm currently using the Fender Nylon Filament Roundwounds on my fretless...Sweeeeetttt!!!

As for ABG...I tried the Tacoma CB10C-E4 Thunderchief...just about creamed my jeans on that one...but, $999 at guitar center.

btw...if you plug this bass in...you will want to take it home :p
