Hi All,

I'm in the process of possibly buying a Teal Quilt custom made (What does custom made mean?) Axis and am giving a good once over. I was wondering how I could check to see if this Axis still had the original Dimarzio pickups in it. Thanks and I appreciate your help!

The "custom made" Axis is an Axis with an upgraded maple top. These are no longer offered, but when they were, it was for a $500 upcharge, and the buyer could select flame or maple. The other way it was different from a regular instrument is that the plate through which the neck is bolted on says "Custom Made".

Wow... after all these years I never knew that. I don’t think I have ever seen that “Custom made” plate before. Thanks for that Eilif.

Ernie Ball used to offer premium tops for an upcharge, and I think they said "custom made" on the neck plate. Other than that it's exactly the same as a regular Axis.

That's all good advice. In short, there's no way to know by just looking at the top of them.

Btw, the p'ups can occasionally be had used, on their own. (I have a set I bought ages ago for testing.)

the back of the neck pickup should have a n1 sticker and the bridge a b2. i could have them backwards like n2 and b1.
