How to warm up SR5

I just got an SR5 a few weeks ago . I was getting a lesson yesturday and I noticed the teachers Bass was a lot warmer than my SR5. I need to change strings soon I don't know what is on there now. I got it used

From what I am reading I will get nickle.

So the question is. How do I warm up the tone some?
 
Probably the bridge pickup setting, roll off some treble, boost the mids, some bass... nickel strings or even flatwounds.

Thanks. For some reason I thought the bridge would be brighter then the neck.

Put on some Jazz Flats, use the neck setting, and roll off a little bit of highs, and you'll be good to go.

I was a Chef for 20yrs all arround the country and everyone says it's the best they have ever had ;)

I think it bears mentioning that not all players like the TI flats...I personally hated them and they are expensive.....wow. Tried them on a Fender American Jazz 5 I had. There are tons of choices for flats out there, EB makes some I think. I'm not a flats guys, the SR tone is all about roundwounds for me. As a matter of fact, I only use Slinkys on my SR. Warming up the tone can be accomplished with technique to a degree, a smooth (gentle) attack on the string coupled with the right EQ(as previously posted) may get you where you want without laying out $60 for boutique strings (that feel weird).

I'm done........sweet looking SR Oldie....I know I said that already.

Assuming you and your teacher are playing instruments of same material, with same onboard settings, and through the same top quality amp, with the same size top quality speakers, at the same time
- first I would ask the teacher what strings (brand, material, guage) (s)he is playing
- second I would ask the teacher if (s)he would show me the way to warm tones

Incidently, I consider it another one of my personal challenges to extract the best and most musically compatible and interesting tones I can with my SR5 (maple/piezo) and stock Slinkys using minimal knobtwiddling and minimal amp settings
- I'm coming closer to the day when the temptation will be too much and I will lace up some JazzFlats for that highly rated experience

BTW, on the way home from the teacher's house, I would forget the cheescake and spend my money on another SR5
- so I could have one with JazzFlats, and one with Slinkys

Meanwhile, I'm still pondering an SR5 Rosewood-Piezo, and a Bongo HSP, and a Bongo Fretless HSP, and a Bongo HP

1. My teacher tweeked the EQ and it helped
2. The Seller told me he had some DR Loriders? they are pretty old.
3. As I said in another post I have been reading and Tweeking with good results
4. I pretty sure your piezo affects the tone.
5 The Cheescake is going to be the way to afford another Stingray Maybe even a Bongo

Have you ever tried "Junior's #1" cheesecake? Whoa....it uses a yellow cake for the crust....unbelievably good. If only you could make a Key Lime pie.....now you're talking......

On 4, Gotta Have Piezo, can't live without it now - especially on the SR5 Fretless
On 5, I dunno about the Cheesecake helping you afford another SR, but it has great potential for really Phat to(n)nes

and ... you musta bin talkin' to my ex-wife
