I've just borrowed a friend's SR4 and the sound produced (regardless of what I do to the Eq) is sounding distorted through my amp.

I've tested it out against my SR5 and SR4 with exactly the same lead and settings on the amp and both of those sound clean.

Would anyone have any ideas what could be causing this at all? I'm not sur eif the pickup being set too close to the strings etc would cause such a problem.

Thanks again for your advice

I hate to point out the obvious, but have you checked the battery? A bad battery in the bass can cause some weird distortion, not always what you'd expect. After that I'd consider adjusting the pickup a little, but I'm sure others will have good advice on that.
