I've owned a handful of EBMM basses through the years, but have either sold or traded most of them, either out of stupidity or necessity. But one has always remained- my original SR5 that I purchased new in 2000 or 2001. I've always had a strange love/hate relationship with the bass, so much so that I've mad (and since reversed) modifications to it that would make most on this forum vomit! Since I bought it, I've probably owned about 2 dozen other basses. Sometimes, a new bass would become my main squeeze for a while, while the SR5 would be sitting, collecting dust, but inevitably, I'd feel the need to spread the love, and play her once more, which would always remind me why I can't, and likely, won't, get rid of her. She has many flaws, and I hate the color- black (and have since I bought it, but it was the only one in stock), but despite that, she and I have nearly become one... my hands know exactly where to go, and the neck is simply to die for. No matter how hard I try to push her away, I simply can't get away from her... which, I'm finding, is a good thing.

If you're interested in moving forward, try a Big Al 5-H. It's your SR5-H on steroids. I was as bigtime SR5 owner/player until a Big Al 5-H entered into my life over a year ago. The SR5 hooked me into becoming a loyal EBMM owner, the Big Al 5-H hauled me in and locked me up. The 4 band EQ is awesome!

I have two SR5s - a white one (good bass) and a metal flake green one (excellent bass). Only downside: the weight. The green one has been my main gigging bass for the last 2 1/2 years. Must have played it for a few hundred shows. It's getting too heavy though, I'm looking for a lighter alternative these days.

I love black and tort; it's such a great combo.

I know how you feel. While my SR5 is not my main player right now, it still holds a place in my heart and I would hate to see it go.
