Used to have this problem with my SR4 until I got my Schroeder 1215L. Now every note cuts through like a hot knife through buttah.

I have this problem on my SR4 30th. It's a real problem and it establishes the 'signature sound' of the SR4 H in my mind. 3 string bass. I'll NEVER buy another Stingray for this reason. I can play any of my other basses through any EQ setting on my rig without too much fanfare. The SR4 requires special attention and special settings or the G string is invisible in a mix. Pickup height, strings, etc DOES NOT fix this problem in some cases. Mine is one of those cases.

To the OP, you bought a dud just like I did. Sorry about your luck.

So I have to buy a special amp & cab to run an SR4?? Or use a completely dedicated set of adjustments for that particular bass?

I ran my SR4 through an Eden WT-500 and through a Markbass LMII. I own them both, so I had lots of time to experiment. For cabs I own 1 each of the following - All Eden - 2X10, 2X12, 4X10, 1X15, 1X18. All 8 ohm - mix & match. I NEVER got a satisfactory G string out of this bass without ending up compromising the tone elsewhere. The strings are imbalanced. I wasted DAYS screwing around with this instrument!! It really shouldn't be that difficult!!

I was told specifically by my band to leave it at home and bring the Fender back. I've NEVER had that happen with any other bass by ANY group of people.

No thanks. I screwed around with the SR4 for a long time. I tried real hard to make it work. It cost me ALOT of money and it's a total let down. The G string is dead. My amps, my cabs, and my other basses - including my Bongo - work just fine. The SR4 sux.

It's not an amp issue, but I do think it may be helpful to contact EBMM customer service to discuss the problem, if you haven't done so yet. They can perhaps give you some insight and support. The company is well known for their concern for their products and customers.

I tried that trick. Indeed they are very polite and professional and have helped on me a couple of issues I've had in the past. On this topic, however, the response has not been so helpful. I opened dialogue on this topic and received a reply requesting more info. I gave all the details I could offer in a polite, respectable manner. I never heard back. That spoke volumes to me. It tells me that there's no fix. I already tried all the adjustments / strings / EQ / amp / speaker / cables / you name it to get the G string to work on this bass. They couldn't offer me any more I guess so it was just dropped.

So what you're saying is that no matter what gig you have, you HAVE to run through your 1215L?

This has been done and done and done and overdone.

This is not the place for "the SR4 sux". I've had a few SR4s over the years and some of them came to me with a quieter G string. I've always been able to adjust it out by (a) using a bigger G string or (b) adjusting the pickup height. A smiley face EQ setting is not helpful, either.

End of thread.

NOt before asking bob to leave. Seriously Rude. Yes you do have to change your amp settings for different basses. Love the piling on with abass that only has about 25,000 happy with the g cusotmers

Maybe the active bass isnt foryou?
