it's so difficult to evaluate the full problem here, as I cannot make out what is reflection and what is a "bubble".

You would be surprised what a good repairman can do! See what he would say to the idea of some glue and a warm iron - it may look a lot better afterwards.

Like BP has already said I've a feeling the problem has reared it's head due to over-tightening of the neck screws?

I kinda look at it the same way I look at my car. I wait until I get a "full" share of dings, nicks, scratches, etc. . . . before I do a makeover.

I just take reasonable measures to make sure it doesn't get worse or spread, etc. . .

Otherwise, by the time you get done addressing each ("ah, dang it!"), when they happen, another pops up, so might as well let them accumulate and do them all at once.
