As some of you well know, I've been looking for an Axis Sport with a pickguard, the H/S/S pickup configuration, a trem and a rosewood board for some time, and excepting one example on eBay that was covered in the signatures from grind and hard core metal bands, there haven't been many of them around of late... until this one came up tonight:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3703453419

With a $399 buy it now I had to pull the trigger, so I fired an email to the seller to beg him to ship to Canada - he agreed, and so now I'm the proud owner of Axis Number 5! This one's got the recessed neck plate I like so much, and a Silent Circuit! Man, I can't wait to get my hands on it...

Proving once again that you just can't get too much of a good thing! :D

I didn't even see that one. I've been casually looking for one like that with 3 singles. I definitely want a trem and rosewood...

Nice score. Nice price, too.

Jimi D, nice job I had just found that and was looking into it when, BAM it was gone.
I saw the winner was from Canada and wondered if it was you.

Nice snag, best of luck. :D

Nice score, Jimi. Congrats. I've always been curious about that model - give us a full report when it arrives.

Jimi,

What a deal! I look everyday at the Axis on eBay (I even looked last night before I went to bed) and never saw this one). It looks like a great guitar for a great price. Can't beat that.

even with the 4 nights on the couch he he

I was going to say something about that. It took me months to sell in buying the SS I'm buying. Jimi, you are either a great negotiator, or your wife likes guitars. :)

I'm not sure I could have turned down the $399 price tag though. I may have had to ask forgiveness for that one. ;)

My wonderful wife does like guitars, and she is a musician herself - a Celtic harpist... You can have a good Celtic harp made for roughly what it costs to buy 5 to 10 new EB/MM guitars (depending on features, size, etc.). She currently has two custom harps and is thinking about commissioning a third... ;)

Jimi: And I thought I had the eBay deal o' the week on my $450 hardtail Axis MM90...nice score! (liked your EBMM pages, BTW) :)

Tvanveen: It's not a rosewood board - maybe you can swap necks with someone? - but here's a clean lookin' one that seems to otherwise sound like what you're after:

(full journalist disclosure: yes, I mentioned this in my other post, and no, I'm not affiliated with the seller...)

What else should I get? I've got the four best silos on the planet. EMG's, Piezo trems, Floyd's, Ash, alder, poplar, basswood, Vintage sunburst, Birdseye from heaven, Rosewood, maple, a quilt top axis that you would slap your momma for, A P-90 Sport piezo trem, an autographed Steve Morse, a silo bass guitar. What?!?!?!

Maybe I should get a S.U.B. "Here you go Norm, A guitar that's not quite as nice as the others.":p

So I guess what I will do is save up for the next guitar that EBMM introduces (if it's good enough). Guys, you will have to put out something special before I spend more money on you. I dare you to create something that can rival my balls.

Still I am thrilled that JimiD got his axe (axi (singular for axis)) that he was looking for. YEEEAAAAAH Jimi!!!!! Estin is right. I now have more ammo to get another ball should I desire. Still, If I want one, I'll get one.

Personally I think a pickguard on an axis is akin to a post-it on an oil painting. But that's just me.
