Kenny Chesney's bassist is playing a black Bongo tonight on ABC (an hour long special). Last night on the AMA's he was playing a Buttercream Bongo. I believe he played the same Buttercreme the night before that (was it on Conan?).

It just puts a really big smile on my face to see a Bongo on prime time TV three nights in a row. I remember when I first saw a Bongo and thought, this bass design is on the outer fringe. Even though the Bongo is in it's infancy (it's design is now only a couple of years old) it doesn't surprise me that it would begin to be accepted so widely, so quickly.

BONGO WILL CONQUER!

Guys when I met Steve Marshall (chesnys bassist) He said he would never change from a sr 5. I said thats because you haven't played a Bongo. Blah Blah Blah I said Ill send you one and you will be hooked.....I watched it last night and was so pumped! Nobodies bass sounded even close, especially those turncoat Rascall Flatt guys..,we support them when they are nobody and now they are Fenders poster boys

I keep on thinking about "Singing in the Rain" whenever I see this topic. :p

Let the stormy clouds chase
everyone from the place.
Come on with the rain -
I have a smile on my face.
I'll walk down the lane
with a happy refrain.
Just singin', singin' in the rain~!

I got a call about 10 minutes into the AMA's from my cousin: "Chesney's bassist is playing your bass (with frets)!"

Cool!

It happened again tonight. A local holiday show was on TV and lo and behold, there was a Buttercream Bongo being played by Collective Soul's bassist. That's four nights in a row that I've seen a Bongo on TV. It's gettin' kinda surreal.

Now I suddenly feel like a bout of the old ultra-violence coming on.

I really knew that this would happen.

Well, not "knew" but "hoped", perhaps.

It does make good business sense to hope so. But I kinda enjoyed playing a bass that hardly anyone else was playing (I'm sure you did too. You were one of the first, Jack). Well, it was fun while it lasted.

But you know, it wasn't a business thing for me back then, when Bongos were the very latest thing and a subject of great debate and so on.

My current status as EBMM sales monkey for VBTC is a very recent thing.

You guys know this, but it wouldn't be any different if I weren't professionally involved now. I was a Bongo Crusader because I really believed in these basses.

I bought them in great quantities long before I had any idea how this would end up.

I will admit that it was fun when no one else had them or understood what it was I was talking about....but it's even better now.

Unite, ye Bongoloids!

Hey Jack ~ is this how you felt in the first days of Bongo?

Now look, the only people I hate more than the Romans are the f*cking Judean People's Front!

And what did the Romans ever do for us, I ask you.
