with 6 seconds left someone outbid me on ebay, after watching this silo spec for a week I fat fingered with 6 seconds left and blew the auction.. the sad thing is I emailed the guy at the start of the auction and asked him for a buy it now price and he said no, I probably would have gone higher than the final bid....his loss and also mine... been looking for that combination (color, neck) for bout' 6 months, gone in 6 seconds.... I'm very tempted to buy new... :(

Yeah its frustrating that all the action in an ebay auction happens in the last few seconds...especially when some people use software to place the bids.

The best approach is to put in your maximum bid. If you're eventually outbid its annoying, but in this case you might have walked away with that guitar for less than your maximum (ebay will put in incremental bids up to your maximum to ensure you are always #1 in the auction).

Still, be careful as it can get addictive ;-)

Neatguy, I know that this is going to sound nuts, but email the guy that out bid you and see if they are interested in selling it, if they don't like it. It can't hurt, that's how I got my Silhouette Special and my wife thought that I was nuts. Heck, make them an offer, they may just sell it, it depends how badly you really want it.

My is a long story, but after communicating with the guy he sold me the guitar for $100 more than he paid.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

I've had many late night bids, with successful wins and I prayed for someone to email me and ask if they can purchase it... :(

Unfortunately not...the next time I'm at my inlaws will be Christmas! I had one scarey moment when my mother in law asked me what notes to tune the strings to as they were "floppy". After telling her EADGBE I remembered shes a pianist - quick call back to tell her to tune two octaves below middle C! :D

Ditto, if you're not gonna sit there at the last second to protect your bid, then you gotta put in your max bid from the get-go.

Same thing happened to me on a rare as hell mint set-neck Hamer Chaparral guitar. I was "managing" the bid and with 25 seconds to go couldn't get my next bid in because the page wouldnt load. When the page finally loaded... bidding was over. I was pissed for weeks. It all worked out in the end... a week later I found my EBMM Morse.

FYI- loosened the strings on the guitar for shipping purposes, you may want to tune it up over the phone....lol....does she have an amp she can plug into so you can hear it? :D
