... I've never played a JP6. There I said it. I've played on ASSs, ALs, Reflexs, Silhouettes, Lukes, and just about any other model EBMM makes (AND I loved them all) EXCEPT a dang JP6. Is it wrong that the guitar I want the most is the one I've never touched?

I've been GASing for 2 years straight. I don't know how long I'd be able to last ... every time I get on this site I'm reminded that my guitar sucks.

I had the same feeling, when I played other, non-EBMMs before.

I'd been waiting years, 'till I got my first Luke (Rolls Burgundy). then, I wanted one in Luke, a Luke blue one, with matching headstock. Then I ended up buying a BFR, a Blue pearl one with piezo, and a RadRed one...and I still find the Luke blue color amazing...

to answer your question, I think you'll find your EBMM when the right time comes.

That's not "wrong" at all It's likely *because* you've never played one that you GAS for it so much.

You'll either love it (highly likely) or not when you do finally get to play one.

it's all about timing...

look at the bright side bro- at least you've got a guitar you can play and it keeps ya choppin away at it... and it'll make the JP even sweeter once you're able to get one.

The Strat gets the job done for now, but I've done so many things to it to get it to fit "my" sound that I probably would've been better off with a different guitar (probably would've saved more). But that's not the real issue here. the fact is that Guitar shops here don't carry the JP6 and its been that way for a while now.

At this point I'd try either of them just to get an idea of the feel. I'm not sure how I would feel about a finished neck just yet, so my preference would be to try out the standard JP (then again, I'd buy a stealth JP6 in a heart beat).

I suppose you all are right though; maybe now's not the time just yet. For now I'm just the strat player that pretends his guitar is an EBMM

I know how you feel, but I'm in a completely different situation. The regular JP is the only EBMM I've played but I'm gassing for one really bad. Hopefully will get mine this summer. Have to order from Europe since I don't like the importer. (Long story) + It's waaaay cheaper that way.

I feel your GAS. Luckily I have my OLP JP (with dimarzios and some other upgrades) that does it's job just fine.

Hey, it had been YEARS since I played an AL and I barely remember how it felt... I spent the last half of last year gassing for the 2HB AL and once the think was in my hand I knew it was all worth it...

not exactly the same boat as you, but the moral of the story is that when you get it it will bel kind of like finding a long lost friend. Just be patient... it will happen.

Don't let the finished neck deter you. It doesn't hinder playing at all. As others have said, this is JP's guitar we're talking here, he wouldn't play anything that slowed him down! The neck does not get sticky, it is smooth, and FAST!

Your ahead of me. I've owned a couple of Silhouettes in the past and now an ASS but haven't tried any other models. I have wondered about the finished neck on the JP models. The feel of EBMM non finished necks is one of the things I like the best about them. Can someone compare the two? Or maybe compare the feel of the JP neck to a more common guitar?
