Well I'm a sucker for guitar reference books, and I have just taken delivery of a book called ***** in the attic written by Deke Dickerson.
Change asterix for a word that rhymes with hat and begins with an S ;)

It's not a book dedicated just to that guitar genre and recounts great stories of "Guitar Archaeology", that details vivid descriptions of rare and idiosyncratic instruments that gearheads crave. The author is adept at telling a great story - I thoroughly enjoyed reading some very poignant stories.

Who knows maybe a future volume will include some rare EB Guitar Archaeology ?

Hey TNT. Careful now, because All work and no play makes jack a dull boy :D
I've finished the book and it was an excellent read.

Dickerson is a regular contributor to Guitar Player magazine and features articles in Vintage Guitar magazine and The Fretboard Journal -So needless to say he tells a good story.

Thanks for replying - I thought nobody was particularly interested;)

:D

Just finished "Diary of a Teddy Boy" - story about a guy called Mim Scala - and his account of the 60's. - Great stuff!

One of a few books I bought from a "Charity Shop" - that had an epic line in second hand books.

Sounds very interesting!! I "LOVE" reading as well!! Especially extra Biblical writings/accounts, e.g., Josephus, Jerome, Luther, Calvin, etc....

Are those typically musicians or just random type of writers??

I like books that have some nice reference material. I'm a sucker for second hand bargains and will visit charity shops as I travel around the country working. Once I bought a book on The Welsh Singer Tom Jones - just because it had a picture of his band in the sixties. In the band was a guitarist from Cardiff, now sadly deceased. Boy was he good. Albert Lee knew him and we had a good chat about him a few years ago.
Him you may ask/ - his name was Mickey Gee and played on tv with Chet Atkins - Chet said to Micky after the gig "Show me how you played so n so Mickey?" Micky duly obliged - Chet walked away shaking his head saying " Man I double tracked that and he can play both parts at once!!!!
RIP Micky.
Another great book which takes pride of place in my collection is a book on the Welsh band "Badfinger" who signed to the Beatles Apple label albeit in the Alan Klein days. Book is long out of print and fetches big bucks on the second hand market.
Another great (Welsh) author is Deke Leonard from the band Man. as long as you can put up with his politcal/religious views, I defy you to read more than 4 pages before laughing out loud!!!
I could go on - but I'll leave it for another day!!!

Spud so funny, you hit "3" topics I have interest in: Tom Jones (because he is soooooooooooooo 60ish; Chet Atkins, and Badfinger! So, "no matter what you say", I will always be interested in your readings.

Tom's a great singer. he sings those blues like he was born in the Delta - not the Welsh Valleys ;)

Badfinger - a tragic story of a band who were totally ripped off with tragic outcomes.

Day after Day = classic
