I bought a used axis(it is my second one) and it had the pups swapped out for EMG's:rolleyes:
anyway i thought that finding a set to equal the stock dimarzios was going to be a real chore well i was half right!:D
the air norton is so close to the stock neck pup that i would recomend it to any other axis or EVH owner that needs to recapture the tone of the original neck pup
the only differences are,
the air norton has slightly less output,is overall sweeter toned, has a bit more "bite" without really digging into the string with the pick
so it is just a lower output version of the stock neck dimarzio i really like it as much as the original
NOW comes the real challenge finding a bridge dimarzio????
the tone zone is not even close anyone have a suggestion on which dimarzio comes as close as possible?
someone told me that the regular NORTON is the one?

I don't know how it compares to the EVH/Axis bridge pickup, but I have a friend who has a basswood ESP, and he installed a DiMarzio FRED in the bridge position. This guitar sounds awesome. I've never a/b'd it with my Axis, but it certainly sound great by itself.

I suggest you try the Breed - it has a slightly more vintage vibe than the ToneZone but still rocks in a BIG way... Plus it works very well with the Air Norton.

Is your goal to recapture the sound of the Axis? I would get in touch with Customer Service. I don't know if they would sell you the actual Axis pickups, but it's worth a try.
