With all the Bongo talk out there I ran across something I couldn't pass up. Hopefully this friday, if it goes out tomorrow, I will be getting a Bongo 5HHP. Used but supposedly in excellent condition, in what they said was metallic red. Anyone know of a metallic red that was produced? I am wondering if it is actually red sparkle. Unfortunately (or fortunately for me) it had just arrived, I scooped it up, and they boxed it before pictures were taken. Pictures will be taken and presented as soon as she arrives to me. I can't wait :D

Congrats! The regular candy red finish has a metallic appearance to it. Probably not radiance red. I'm sure it'll look killer. Love the piezos with the HH setup. Lots of frequency range to play with.

When I spoke to the salesman who took it in, he said there was a slight bit of "sparkle" to it. Not a true heavy metallic finish.

Well, no one in their right mind would describe Radiance Red as having a "slight bit of sparkle to it." :D

I guess you'll know soon enough. What's the pickguard? Do you know?

I agree that sounds like it has to be candy red. You're really lucky to come upon an HHp used. I honestly can't believe anyone would give it up as the HHp has an incredible tonal range. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Congrats!

Thanks guys. The bass was there for such a short time, the salesman thought he remembered the PG as black pearloid. Totally excited and pics will be up.

It's here

Just came in, was able to pick it up before I go to the hospital for my shift. Got some surprises. Turns out it is an Bongo 5HSP. BWB PG, awesome shape with one ding. I believe it is candy apple red. Appears to be the right handed twin for Jewel that you posted Psycho Ward :) Pictures included!

Candy red still looks pretty sleek with that black pickguard. Dare I say elegant?

Indeed. I originally had a black PG on my CR Bongo H and I absolutely love the look. The minute I saw gig photos, though, I realized a dark guard on a dark bass makes it disappear on stage. I put a cream pearl guard on it and it's been there ever since.

I'm glad it's getting used. That cream pearl is a great look on the candy red.

Love the HSp Bongo 5. My main gigging config. Single coil+piezo+pick=happy bassmonkeee.

Mr. Rizzo, I truly apologize. I had been searching for a couple of month for a Bongo. My sales person at GC was diligent and checked every morning she was working to find new listings of Bongos for me. Few ever came up (tells you something doesn't it!) until this popped up over the weekend. I jumped on it, am really glad I did. Love the bass.

PS. Mr Douglas, one cool dude in the pic. Like it lots.......
