Hello everyone, I am new here and I just acquired a Musicman Silhouette 24 fret neck.

Therefore, I am searching for a Silhouette body and neckplate, does anyone here know where to buy one? (or if anyone here is selling one)

My alternative plan is to acquire a Sterling Silo20 and bolt my musicman neck onto it. However, those silo20 are quite rare and I haven't seen any for sale lately.

Thank you for reading!

What country are you in? EBMM doesn't sell bodies as you might already know, and I've never seen any aftermarket bodies for sale. It is possible someone out there could make you a body to the correct dim's if you have them. There are Silo20s for sale in the USA, particularly on Reverb and most likely ebay. You can post in the WTB section at the top.

thank you for replying!

i am located in Hong Kong, i think it would be hard to come by a luthier with the correct templates for a silhouette 24 fret body.

There is 1 or 2 silo20 on reverb but unfortunately, they cannot be shipped to Hong Kong.

Here's a thought - is the Silo 20 body different in dimension to the current sub silo? If not, I may know someone who would ship a sub silo to Hong Kong

I checked an old thread , sterling bodies won't fit an EBMM neck

Wow thank you so much for telling me (before i go off buying a silo 20), I did a little digging after I saw your post and I found the thread:

Looks like getting a custom body made is the way to go, unless someone decides to sell their 24 fret silhouette body.

Anyways, here are some pics of my newly-acquired silhouette neck. It feels great! and I believe it is a 2002 neck by the looks of the heel stamps. The tuners were replaced with Korean Jin Ho GuitarFetish ones.. I will eventually source the original locking Schallers once I get the body.

the IMPORTANT part of the thread above SBMM (Sterling company guy) says

"SBMM and SUB Series parts (ESPECIALLY necks!) won't swap out with the USA EBMM counterparts.
We've engineered them this way for a reason."

so that's the end of the OP trying to use a sbmm body...

Probably to stop parts guitars I guess or limit the chances of hybrid guitars being passed off as EBMMs

yeah that should be the reason, if not people would start re-decaling their sbmm and pass them off as a musicman.

i wonder how different is a sbmm body to a musicman body? are the body shape and overall dimensions the same?

Wow nice fretboard, that neck has quite a few different holes in the heel. Guess it's been mounted to different bodies.

lol thx, yeah quite a lot of holes there to indicate that the last owner must have had a nightmare trying to also find a silhouette body, but instead had to settle with shoehorning random different bodies with the neck :D
