I hear ya man, but this is no where near your run of the mill "black" bass; even the best photographs I've seen from different dealers don't come close to the subtle beauty of the finish in person! BTW I owned a DDII bass and I think I prefer the black sugar finish...

but imagine it, DD Roasted bongo with a blue or orange pickguard? DD (my mind is odd.)
