Hey guys. Seems like when I'm playing and get all excited (heh) I end up knocking the 5-way selector switch on my Luke down to the humbucker. Any suggestions? Can I tighten it or something?

...Or do I just need to be less of a spaz?

I had the same problem with a Strat once. I always use the neck p/up, and I was always hitting the switch, knocking it into the middle or bridge position. I turned the switch around. Problem solved.

mmm, Stop swinging your right arm like Pete Townshend (sp?) :D

Maybe stop moving your hand so much, l've never had that problem, so l can't really suggest anything, but when l'm strumming chords l place my picky on the body of the guitar, maybe try that.

Scott.

Sounds like a strumming issue more than a general playing issue.

All guitar players experiment with their guitars sweet spot. Playing more towards the bridge gives a tighter sound (faster string vibration), more towards the neck a looser one.

I'd try moving a tad back towards the bridge to see if that helps and is still comfortable.

Play a Petrucci model for awhile. The switch placement cured me of my wayward right hand real quick!

Most people who see the Petrucci pickup switch ask me how I can play without hitting it. But to me, it's prefect! Easy to get to, and out of the way of my playing.

However, last night, I had my first band rehearsal with my new JP w/piezo, and I did hit the piezo switch a few time by mistake... Once it took me a good minue to figure out why my guitar sound cut out. I guess I'll have to get used to it.

Dan,

How the heck did you hit the Piezo switch? It's on the upper horn near the 21st fret.. that's some interesting place to strum!
