Well its been a few weeks, and I just wanted to report that I love playing my BFR Luke (no suprise, right?).
Seriously, its very difficult to put it down. Not only does it play really nice, with supersmooth action and a really fine and comfortable feel, but I find the sound to be exceptional. greater clarity, stronger note seperation. these are evident in both the clean and distorted sounds.
I'm wondering...is it only the maple top that makes this difference? I assume so. It suprises me a bit because the difference is quite evident to me; not as subtle as I thought it might be.
Next guitar I'm saving up for is a Luke w/ piezo in sparkle finish. Hope EB comes up with one in the next year.

Glad you like it :D Lukes are great regardless if they are BFR or regular:)

You are right Larry. I have the chance to tried out Desert Gold Luke 3 (piezo equipped) at my local dealer. The small body, the beefy neck and of cos the instant piezo switching.. They blew me away!

see thats what i was wondering about. I know thw jp6 had the tone block. Are you sure its in the Luke also. That might explain part of the sound diff. that I can't see attributing to the maple top.

oh, and i totally agree that ALL Lukes are great. I never never thought an emg equipped guitar would wind up one of my top favorite guitars!

Can a top get any better than that? BFR's rule!

Personal taste is irrelevant in this case...it's just a smokin' top people!

thanks Danny

I appreciate the feedback.:D

In all seriousness, if you really like the Luke, you should get one of your own bfr at some point. It is amazing.

For me, besides the great and fleible sounds it offers me, the luke offers me just the right feel. The neck/fretboard shape and scale is perfect for my smallish hands.

For my strat sound I play a Bonnie Raitt strat. its the only fender I ever played that has a thinner narrower neck.

Its great to be able to hook my thumb and grab that low e string without having pains the next day.
