Technically not a sig and probably 100% to do with him not violating his terms with Fender. Also why its a completely different guitar without single coils.

Hmmm
Lots to like there. Looks like the neck joint and lower bout are sculpted on the rear. I love the matching headstock, but the binding means the neck is finished, and I don’t mess with gold hardware. It’s interesting to see the pickup switch is recessed.

I did NOT expect to see humbuckers. Some interesting styling, but the real question is what do those pickups sound like? Exposed slug coils - not very common.

Binding? On maple? Just... why? Don't like the headstock shape either. I hate to be that guy, but this doesn't move the needle for me at all. I'll keep my StingRay RS as is.

You know, there are two versions of this guitar, right? The regular version and the deluxe version? The regular version doesn’t have binding and comes with Rosewood board.

Ok that longer headstock looks a little wong...

But seriously that is a cool guitar I would not have expected. First of all I would not normally like the teardrop pickguard and in general, I don't like it when guitars are shaped like a bass design. Fender made a guitar with a body shape like a Jazz Bass and I think it was one of the ugliest guitars I've ever seen ( I even dislike the shape of the Jazz Bass as a bass, yet I own two, lol) I like this one though.

The thing that really got me though was seeing the one in Pine Green finish with the gold hardware, matching headstock and bound neck-- it could be a brother to my beloved BFR Pine Green Valentine-- a guitar I bought strictly because the color was pretty (And of course my Valentine does have the factory boo-boo where it even says StingRay under the paint on the headstock-- but it's my good luck charm). The white one looks great too-- a bit like the BFR Valentine Ivory White, which was another one I liked.

Very weird to see it being a HH guitar but I get it. I have a Stratocaster. I reach for it a bit less than most of my other guitars. It's usually not what I want. But for the times where I need something particular, it's the best guitar for the job without a doubt. Not even close. If I had to play a Strat all the time, I'd probably feel a little boxed in.

I do agree with something Cory said in an interview about sometimes wanting a humbucker in the bridge of his Strat but HATING the look of an HSS Strat aesthetically. Yes to this 100%. So he's taken to sometimes using stacked bridge humbuckers in his Strats-- which is kind of a funny reversal of the Valentine having a bridge single coil that properly looks like a humbucker.
