I recently purchased (May 2007) a used Ernie Ball Stingray 4 bass with 3 band EQ and is a 1998 model if I am correct. I have not had any problems with it up until
the time to replace the battery. I replaced the old with a new battery the first time with the bass unplugged. I was playing with it today and started to hear a magnetic hum when I wasn't plucking the strings. I figured it might be the battery, so I unplugged the battery cell...with the bass still plugged in.

Now, there is no sound coming from the bass, I've tried unplugging and replugging the patch cord and also replaced the battery. There is no response from the volume knob and the treble, mid and bass knobs only make a sweeping "thump" sound from passive to active. It is my first time with anything like this, I fear I might have done something horrible to the bass/pre-amp etc? It was a momentary lapse of judgement on my part and I hope I didn't do anything serious to the bass?:(
